Hi, I use an application called Witness that records phone calls. Now i'm using windows 7 the wav files it produces do not play in Windows Media Player. I've used GSpot to identift the codec as 0x0022 (DSP Group TrueSpeech) however when I try & find this codec to download it appears to be a nightmare to get hold of it. Does anyone know if I can download this codec into Windows 7, or any reason why its no longer included in the software anymore? Through my experience, the WAV is encrypted and can only be played back through the Witness application. It uses a unique number associated with the journal entry to decode the WAV.

If you choose to export the journal file, Witness removes the protection and creates a standard WAV that is playable on any media player. It is a back-asswards security feature. If you find a way to convert the files outside of Witness, or a different way of playback please post the method as this would be a handy tool. You need the DSP TruSpeech codec regardless. This is not included in the above mentioned codec pack as far as I'm aware- why is that marked as an answer? Has anyone had an answer from Microsoft or DSP Group about why it's deprecated and no easily available? Seems there are a lot of Call monitoring apps out there that still require this and nobody wants to download dodgy codec files from internet sites.

Not least due to the legal status of using such appropraited copies of the codec. The clock on XP is ticking and there are a lot of people out there that probably still need a way round this.

Then RIGHT CLICK on it and UNINSTALL - REBOOT - this will rebuild the driver stack.

1st go to system maker's site and look for latest driver Download - SAVE - go to right click on and RUN AS ADMIN (This is your fallback.) REBOOT after each driver installation.
