From Sony PC Companion is a set of tools and applications you can use when you connect your device to a computer. PC Companion contains Xperia Transfer, a tool for moving content from an iPhone to your new Xperia device. It also offers device software updates, contacts and calendar management, and a backup and restore feature for your phone content (availability of applications depends on your phone and operator). You can also transfer and organize your media content using Media Go. Over time, more applications can be added and downloaded when made available by Sony or your operator.

Hello Firstly shame on you Sony. If this functionality is not restored you have lost a customer. I was able to reinstall PC Companion and get it syncing contacts and calendar with my Xperia Z3 Compact with Android Marshmellow (Windows 8.1, outlook 2013). In order to do this you need to follow this process: • create a windows firewall rule and block PC Companion from having internet access during the initial install and as it loads. The rule was file based. On my machine the file was located here: C: Program Files (x86) Sony Sony PC Companion PCCompanion.exe • Once loaded, and the welcome dialouges have beeen skipped, disable the firewall rule. • Click the various functions like calendar and contacts and the app will download the files necesary.

I'm able to syc my tablet and phone with Sony PC Companion. Now they want to replace it with Xperia Companion. How do you sync using Xxperia.

After the files are downloaded RENABLE the firewall rule. This is important as the app phones home and will disable itslef during operation. • Use the functions as normal. In order to use the Calendar sync function meant I had to use the google option so I disabled the firewall rule. Sync finished however the app must have done a version check and no longer works.

Well what can I say. Sony I am very disapointed in the removal of PC Companion. Forcing a software change will only work if the end user (customers) Dont loose 'ANY' functionality from the previous software. This has not happend. XC has roughly about 25% of the functionality of PC companion if that. To send PC Companion to EOL cycle without a suitable replacement is shocking.

What kind of framework do you use to do this? It is absolutley propostrous! This software must be using the Big Bang SDLC.

Very little planning no end result no final product, customers are your beta testers but no feedback channel is open to improve a very lacluster software missing key operations and basic functionality. I would have never imagined that Sony being such a large company would stoop so low to gain so little. This is my first and last Sony Mobile I will own. I;m afraid I have to echo the complaints of previous subscribers re this 'New' companion software. I previously owned Xperia Z2 and ran with PC companion very happily. I could sync my contacts/calendar with Outlook and take reliable backups. I now own ax Xperia XA and have been forced into using Xepria Companion since PC companion will not recoc=gnise the XA.

Now there is no Outlook sybc. And I have given up trying to backup the XA.

Last attempt ran for 12 hours before I gave up. SERIOUS issues with this software and shoulld not have been released until it equalled or bettered PC Companion. Really annoyed.
